Belgians claim half a billion from Lehman Brothers
82 Belgian banks, other companies, private investors and even monastic orders have put a claim of 482 million Euros against Lehman Brothers and a number of its subsidiaries. The list, including large companies like Electrabel, banks, smaller companies and surprisingly also ‘the fathers of love’ from Ghent and ‘the sisters of Saint-Vincentius’ from Gijzegem who suffered a total loss of almost 1,5 million Euros, was released by Epiq Systems. Belgian banks go for the highest amounts: Dexia, together with Dexia Bill in Luxemburg and Dexia Crédit Local in France, 360, KBC 55, BNP Paribas Fortis 68, ING Belgium 85 and AXA 16 million Euros. But also personal investors claim they have lost money because of Lehman Brothers, like a man from Baelen who claims 200.000 Euros.
